OnStage™

OnStage™ features the HD video "player" and other elements of the user interface. It is more feature-rich than off-the-shelf players, and is tailored to optimize the experience for viewers of healthcare videos.

As indicated, OnStage picks up where BackStage leaves off. It comprises the video "player" and other elements of the user interface. Its clean and highly functional viewer experience is driven by BackStage, and the viewer inputs, registrations, comments, video ratings, subscriptions, preferences etc., are routed back to BackStage.

The features of the OnStage player can be summarized within the following five categories:

Ease of Publication To Multiple Sites

Once the publisher has used BackStage (or another program) to encode, categorize, tag and otherwise prepare its video assets and associated files (e.g., transcripts), they are ready to be published on the Internet for viewing on the websites chosen by the publisher. The videos and all associated information will then automatically appear in the OnStage player on the indicated websites, thus saving tens of thousands of dollars in website design fees alone. The OnStage player and associated functionality can be incorporated into any webpage, with any associated page art and branding as desired and provided by the Publisher or site owner. Typically, all that is required is an HTML link back to the Publisher's OnStage account.

Modern, HD Video Viewing Experience

OnStage provides a modern 16x9 HD viewing screen, one button full screen capability, simple play, pause, time indication and volume controls; and constantly refreshed indications of Medical Condition, Treatment Path, Publisher, and Date of Original Publication associated with the video being viewed.

The OnStage player also provides toggle tabs for Description and Transcript, Ratings, View numbers and Share Video; and a side bar with thumbnails of Episodes and Most Watched Videos associated with principal video returned by search query.

Simple Yet Powerful Search Functionality

Providing an accurate and user-friendly search experience for videos is far different than for text based source files. OnStage's search functionality is built for video, and exemplifies the power of integrating BackStage and OnStage.

OnStage will return not only the video most relevant to the search query, but a playlist of additional related videos. The effectiveness of the search query is determined by the inputs in BackStage, which include keywords, metatags, transcripts, titles, health stages, medical conditions, and other attributes associated with each video catalogued there, all providing for a rich and relevant context for any video search query.

Multiple Avenues For Viewer Interaction

OnStage has been developed to make the viewing experience for any healthcare site visitor simple, relevant and engaging. It is designed to maximize viewing time, and return visits. In addition to the clean and attractive interface and player, OnStage thus allows multiple avenues for viewer interaction, including Registration, Ratings, Subscriptions, E-Mail-a-Friend, Request a Video Topic; and Discussion Forum participation.

Website Integration Options

Interface Solutions

Integrated Interface Solution: The integrated interface is a fully scalable integration of artwork and layout of the interface. This allows for full feature utilization of OnStage. Live searches, search returns, and video playback are performed directly from OnStage. This approach requires a direct site link to your OnStage player. Clients manage their own templates within the BackStage application with "client administrator" permissions.

iFrame: iFrame allows you to embed a generalized OnStage interface onto your existing website. This will require that a segment of an existing webpage be dedicated to OnStage to return the requested content. Most features can be accessed from an OnStage player, including user registration, rating, and comments.

XML Feed

XML Feed: XML wrappers can be customized to suit the needs of clients. User registration and video asset display is dictated by the client preferences. This will require customization of client content management systems (CMS) and is based on a request response protocol.

Embedded Solution: This is the placement of an individual video asset into an existing webpage, generally referred to as "hard coding". HTML code is generated from BackStage for copy and past onto the website. This allows for direct integration of individual videos. Registered users of OnStage, when properly logged on, will determine the website(s) in which the relevant media asset(s) are to be placed.

API Access

Access to the API is determined based upon IP Address, or Domain Name, or Authorization Code, or any combination of the above.
